    Ponchatoula is “Strawberry Capital of the World”. Our delicious strawberries are available from November to April. Strawberry farmers past and present have been honored with the “Strawberry Farmer Wall of Fame” located in front of city hall. In 2001 the Louisiana Legislature selected the strawberry as the state fruit. Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival is held in April of every year and is the second largest festival in the state. Fund RaisersFebruary Fun Fever is the Ponchatoula Chamber of Commerce largest annual fund- raiser. This event includes silent and live auctions of items generously donated by local businesses. This year’s auctions included trips, antique furniture, jewelry, art and much more. Local restaurants and caterers set up to provide and serve the delicious food. A beverage bar is set up to provide refreshments during the festivities. Dance to music by a live band or D.J. Fund raising is through ticket sales, sponsorship and proceeds from the auction. Themes for this event change every year. Next year will be “Back to the Fifties” so dust off those poodle skirts and saddle oxfords and join us for a great night of fun. The committee Chairman coordinates the event with the help of volunteers. Thanks to all the volunteers that have continued to make this event larger and more profitable for the chamber each year.
